Darrell Doan is the Economic Development Director for the City of Elk Grove, the California Capital Region’s second largest city. Darrell is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Elk Grove’s economic development activities, including business retention, expansion, and recruitment. Darrell is a member of Elk Grove’s executive leadership team, is Chair of the regional Economic Development Directors’ Task Force, and is on the leadership team of Sacramento’s federal lobbying mission, Cap-to-Cap. Prior to Elk Grove, Darrell served as Economic Development Director for the City of Alameda, California where he oversaw the launch of that city’s first economic development department. Prior to Alameda, Darrell was Director of Economic Development and later Managing Director of Real Estate Development for the Baltimore Development Corporation. Darrell started his career in public service working for the Santa Cruz and San Jose redevelopment agencies. Originally from Salinas, California, Darrell is a graduate of Sacramento City College and the University of California, Davis, and received his Master’s in City and Regional Planning from Rutgers University. When Darrell is not serving the public, he enjoys spending time with his family, reading, music, and cooking.
