CITY OF YUBA CITY RANKED A ‘BEST-PERFORMING SMALL CITY’ – Jan 19 2018
Milken Institute Report Recognizes Strength in Job Growth, Wage Growth, Industry
The City of Yuba City is proud to announce it was ranked as one of the 2017 “Best-Performing Small Cities” in America by the Milken Institute, which recognizes trends and factors that power regional growth. The City’s ranking is calculated using data related to job creation, wage gains and technology trends that shape current and potential growth patterns.
“We’re both fortunate and proud to be categorized with so many other great towns and cities,” said Mayor Preet Didbal. “This designation corroborates a fact we have known for years—Yuba City is a great place to live, work and raise a family. We continue to retain and attract great businesses, and Milken Institute Report supports our continued reputation as one of the best performing small cities in the United States.”
Overall, Yuba City ranked 7th in the nation in the Milken report. Only one other small city in California ranked higher.
The City’s most notable strides were in the realm of job growth, health care, tourism, manufacturing sectors. The City also saw dramatic strides in its rankings for wage growth, high-tech sectors, and all things housing-related set the top performers apart in this year’s Small Cities ranking.
We know economic growth is critical to community vitality. Our strong wages, increasing output and plentiful jobs are positive indicators that our economy continues to expand. This new ranking is a wonderful marker for our region’s reputation, for the community, and for our businesses.
The year-end ranking follows several other prestigious recognitions for Yuba City in the last two years, including an “A” long-term credit ranking in its most recent audit by Standard & Poors, a credit upgrade that recognized the City’s local economy and improved budgetary performance.
“Yuba City is not only a hub for job creation but a place where employment and businesses is sustained,” said Darin Gale, Economic Growth and Public Affairs Manager. “As we continue to see advances in our community’s economic well-being, it’s due as much to existing employers as the new industry that comes our way. We are improving every day and look forward to what this New Year will bring.”
